Reshaping a Silhoutte

After a busy week, I've returned to my blog to find a vital part of it broken.  Those who have visited here in the past may remember that the background I chose for Silhouetted was supplied through Shabby Blogs.  Apparently the one I selected is either no longer being offered or has been shuffled around to where I can no longer find it.  Oh well.  It's high time I buckled down and spruced things up anyway, so expect some changes around here.

Now, on to the fun stuff!  I ordered something from Bambi Crony for Cricket and it has at last arrived!  I haven't taken pictures of her with them on just yet.  As I've also bought some white alpaca fur and most of the supplies I need to put together a wig for my wee pixie, I'm thinking that I'll get that finished first so she can pose up a storm in her full fey glory.

Which brings me to what I alluded to in my last post.  Yes, I fully intend to have two personae for Cricket and a wardrobe for each.  In one, she's a little girl in our modern world with a big imagination and a love of role-playing games.  In my ongoing story, which is heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, she's a young pixie sorceress who has become a traveling companion of the main protagonist.  In both roles, I see Cricket as my adorable ambassador, presenting each piece of the developing scrapbook I claim as my mind.

The outfit I want to showcase today is from the WitcheryCostume House.  I think it suits Cricket's out-of-character personality wonderfully, and seriously, how could I resist getting her a kitty cat hoodie?

Cricket: "Are we making a carrot cake?"
Carrot:  *stares at the carrot on the pan*
As you can see, I also tossed some overalls into my order.  As I have yet to procure a blouse/shirt to go with them, and Cricket looks very under dressed wearing just the overalls, they've been tucked away for future photos.

Ode to a Persistent Soul

In the past, I have been notorious for leaping headfirst into something new and devoting every spare speck of energy to it.  After a time, my passion would slowly fade and eventually I would move on to the next new thing, leaving the old to collect dust in my memory and occasionally prod me with feelings of guilt and remorse.  When I purchased Cricket, I vowed this would never happen, and it hasn't.  I did, however, come close to the teetering edge of falling into the pit of my old habit.  What drew me back and reminded me of the fun that's only just beginning with Cricket is a friend.

After the Weekend: Back at the Keyboard

So, I'm back after waging war on various health concerns (about which I won't bore you with the details), and ready to post on Tuesdays every week.  I want to also post on Fridays, but I'm only going to promise myself Tuesdays at this point.  You hear that, Life?  Tuesday nights are blog nights!  *shakes her fist in defiance*

Oh, and today's my birthday.  No worries there, as it's been an awesome day indeed, made special by some spectacular friends and my wonderful family.  I love you guys!  *HUG*

Alright, enough of the mushy mush.  On to the cute!

The Nasal Wars & Carrot's Here!

"The Nasal Wars", AKA "Shadow's Sinuses Need Full Body Armor and a Bazooka", have been waged over the course of this past week.  I'd end up falling into bed not long after getting home, mumbling something to myself about needing to take pictures of Cricket and her things while my cat purrs me to sleep.  Sometimes a couple of photos would be accomplished, but then the war would pick up its pace and I'd end up in bed again, purring cat and all.  This inevitably resulted in the delay of my post, and here we are, on Sunday.  *facepalm*

The good news is that, by some miracle, my medication tackled my sinus infection to the floor and pummeled it into submission sometime during last night.  My pain has dulled and I can breathe again, and with that can function without my body slipping into sleep mode.  Which means that pictures will at last be posted, and I'll have a whole bunch of them to add to tomorrow's After the Weekend for good measure.  :)

Presenting, Cricket's long awaited best friend, Carrot!

After the Weekend

So, about that regular post schedule I mentioned.  Now that the fever is long gone and I feel like myself again, I'm ready to roll out with the photos and share some cute!

Cricket is still sans wig, but she's rockin' that ribbon.
